ABOUT
MY EXPERIENCE
I am an experienced primary and ESOL teacher. I have taught in outstanding village primary schools as a class teacher and as a tutor in a local tutoring centre. I have also taught in two language schools, one in London and the other in Tunbridge Wells.
Primary Tutoring
I tutor children from years 1 to 6 in English, Maths and reasoning. My tutoring is designed to give children the skills and confidence to either strive ahead or catch up with their peers. The experience of teaching across a large age range means that I know what came before and what will come next.
I have successfully tutored children to pass exams including the 11+ and Kent College and Walthamstowe Hall Entrance Tests. I have helped children to secure both Holmewood House and Beechwood Scholarships.
My lessons are varied and enjoyable, with younger children I make them both fun and educational with the use of games and websites. I have a very large range of resources to suite all children's learning needs so I can take them to whatever step they are able to reach. I am fully conversant with the new National Curriculm.
ESOL Tutoring
I teach English as a second language to both children, teenagers and adults on a one to one basis. My lessons help increase confidence and skill. I will help you to improve your abilities in speaking, listening, writing and comprehension.
My tutoring has helped students towards success in Cambridge FCE and PET exams and IELTS. I have also assisted students in securing employment.
In the first lesson I will assess your level via the CEFR banding scheme. From then I will tailor your lessons to your interest and focus of achievement. To make the lessons varied and interesting I use set schemes, websites and my own resources.
